Possagno

After class today I went on a little trip to a local small town called Possagno.  According to my packet most of the reason Possagno is so famous is due to it's relationship with Antonio Canova who was an artist/painter  from around 1750-1822.  It was really neat to see because of the beautiful Canova Temple that is located at the top of Possagno.  I took a bunch of pictures of the church and all it's glory.  Other than that I did the usual, class, lunch, meetings, dinner, homework WOO.  Lucky for me I'm leaving for Florence this weekend so I'll have something to really write about! Enjoy the pics!

This is Canova's temple in Possagno, apparently it is designed to look like three things; the colonnade as in Athens' Parthenon, the round body as in Rome's Pantheon and the apsidal chapel.  These three things are supposed to represent the three main phases of civilization: The Greek, the Roman and the Christian.
